This is the chronicle of the patronal feast took place in Castellammare del Golfo (TP) the 19 August 2002 pm 21,00 – Cala Marina
The event is held annually in August.
“Castellammare would be meaningless without Mary, Our Lady of Help. We find the identity of Castellammarese, around this sacred reality, around this Virgin Mother says that protection for his people, so that wherever the Castellammarese invoke with filial trust is Mary under the title of Our Lady of Help”.
With these words the Bishop Francesco Trapani Miccichè by the sense of the importance of an event of faith and tradition.

The event
The event which seeks the revocation occurs the 13 July 1718, Castellammare when it comes to being at the center of events of war; had broken, in fact, the war between King Philip V of Spain and Amedeo of Savoy for the possession of Sicily. A Spanish ship cargo, followed by five British ships, is to take refuge under the castle, where to find one who is committed to doing everything to take its defenses to repel the enemy ships; these, irritated by the damage suffered, respond to the attack by firing with their artillery. In view of the impending danger, the people, stunned and trembling, rushes to the feet of his patron, begging loudly a powerful aid. Not all flee, abandoning their homes and the city, and while they disperse in the countryside seeking escape, Despite the barrage of English, none does any damage. But suddenly, the amazement of all, from Mount Madonna of the Stairs is the white-clothed followed by a host of angels, themselves as white, going down to the Marina. This view frightens the British people leaving our sea headed for other ports.
The commemoration
The event is reminiscent these facts with the aid of lights, sounds, visions and pyrotechnic effects, studied and designed for the sites and scenery of the Gulf of Castellammare. The key idea is to represent the scenically moments of the bombing of the British Navy, commented vocally and with appropriate background. After, evocative music will introduce the appearance of the image of Our Lady of Help, creates an atmosphere of mystical intensity. Pyrotechnic effects will be particularly effective: fountains of fire will dance between the sea and the sky, creating ghostly effects. Follow the traditional procession to the sea statue of Our Lady of Help, accompanied by several boats. Joy explodes with a music concert and fireworks. Banners of fire, pyrotechnic fountains, fixed and pyrotechnic fires balls will create an exciting scene in which gold and silver, together with a multiplicity of colors, assemble and dance on the canvas of the sky.
